The Glory of the Lord

I was reading in the topical guide this week about Jesus Christ, glory of. It changed my whole perspective when I got to Isaiah 6:3 (which is repeated in 2 Ne 16:3). It says the whole earth IS full of his glory. Present tense. It is not a future prophecy. It made me think about things that are glorious and full of goodness and light that the whole world is full of. Plants. Animals. Oceans. Mountains. Water. People. It made me think of things that were glorious this week. It was wonderful!

Best things:
-Going to the temple with Laura Niederhauser on Saturday morning. Pretty much every word of that sentence is glorious.
-Hiking on Memorial day with my family at Wyandotte County Lake after calling my dad to sing Happy Birthday to him. Happy birthday again, Dad! He is 85. He is wonderful!
-Doing summer things with Griff and Eve.
-Hanging out with the Fords one morning when it was too cold for swim team, but perfect for a bike ride to the park.
-Stake Conference. Elder Gifford Nielsen was our visiting authority. He is great about capturing the excitement of the gospel and where The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is headed, and about not taking himself or life too seriously. The Relief Society fed the stake presidency and bishops and their wives dinner on Saturday night between meetings. That was new and welcome.
-I am blessed with the best friends and I keep having great opportunities to connect with them.

Hardest things:
-I have some friends going through super hard things right now. Children who are severely depressed. A nephew who was murdered.  Divorcing a husband with mental illness. Just lots of heavy stuff that I can't do a lot about. But I can see them, hug them, and validate that what they are doing is so, so hard. So that is what I do--probably the smallest act of service possible.
-Also my kids and I ride emotional roller coasters all the time. Part of embodiment, I know, but it can get tricky.

Griff organized and sold Pokemon cards this week.

Griffin's friend Oliver has a mom who is an artist. She painted this one.

Savers

I ran over to tell them not to do this, but it was too late and they were so happy doing it.

  1. I'm so sorry about your hard things. The worst part is being able to do so little for people we care about! You are strong to help carry burdens.

You're so good at expressing that life is more than just one thing. It's especially refreshing because other people's lives often look perfect from the outside. To be human is to struggle. Anyway, someone with shoes as cute as yours should only be happy. That's what I vote anyway. Some shoes just make you happy to look at. Yours do that for me.

  3. I dearly hope that that beautiful daughter of yours came home with a green tipped wig. Something tells me Mariah would approve.

A lot of people cringe away from friends who are having a hard time. I’m glad you’re not one of those.
You’ve got a firm spine. And also loving arms to go with it. Great combo.
