And He Shall Feed His Flock

Blessings of the week:

1. Yesterday was slated to be a little crazy. The schedule was full of three events in three different places at the same time that all seemed pretty important. Griffin's last football game was cancelled for the cold, and at the last minute I was asked to be at the same thing Alan was supposed to be at, with permission to bring my kids. It was amazing and lovely! We all went to the stake center for the stake priesthood meeting where our dear friend Daryl Ward was put in the stake presidency. I got to visit with dear friends and work on news stories about the new callings, Eve and Griff got to mess around on devices and sneak some free food, and Alan got to be present and available to support the stake and be spiritually fed. I think we all were. That night we had tickets for a community production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, but my three compadres thought it sounded a little painful, so I went without them, and I found a friend who was willing to drop everything and go with me at the last minute!

2. Last week, I found a kinda derpy way to not get sick from drinking from a cup from Chipotle and the queso was not what I expected because  I think I got spoiled by an awesome queso at Taco Naco. Here are the results of my drink protector. (Pro tip: the stuff on the tip of you cup can be easily recycled to be used as protection from the  huge green upright snails. Just form it around your head. Oh, I remember what they're called!  I think they are shown on Star Trek-- oh yeah: aliens. Warning they're coming to Spock's star ship on February 15th, 2022). 

Eve brings the unexpected to my life regularly. She reminds me of a secret spark to joy.

3. San Antonio walkers podcast club and Michigan book club. One of the true silver linings of the pandemic has been connecting regularly with dear friends from other places I have lived.  I love knowing what I should be praying for them when they come to mind.

4. Waiting upon the Lord. Alan had me pick him up from work on Friday, which involved working VERY hard from about 3pm on. I brought the kids home, snacked them up, got in a dress, prepared the kids for what was coming, took the boys to football practice, picked up dinner from Panera, the babysitter from her house, dropped her off and drove to the Plaza in Alan's car loaded with his dress clothes. He loaded his bike in the back, grabbed his clothes in a brisk wind, changed in his office and came back and we headed out eating dinner in the car in rush hour downtown traffic. Then we went to the temple together. It was totally worth it.

5. Reading Dopamine Nation. Thank you for the recommendation Kirsta J! We ALL need this book in a big way.

6. Walking with Carrie B. She was so grateful for my help getting started organizing. And she got very busy and went to town organizing a whole bunch and took me for a show and tell! And she is always, always just wonderful to be with. I love her!

 Challenges: I am not always cheerful and delightful when asked to do things like call my husband as I am driving to get him after working really hard to get on the road. And when my 9 year old son is falling apart for the millionth time this week. And when my twins complain about a perfectly great breakfast I just made them. Sometimes I even get super grumpy and fall apart too.
