Big Wide Beautiful World

Best parts of our homeschooling world this week:

-thinking about how to teach Spanish to my kids.
-getting out with friends. We had two outdoor playdates at a park and Hattie's yard, and a field trip to Prarie Fire Museum where I got to teach some kids about primate evolution and see a chinchilla take a dust bath. (They brought a big white bowl of dust and put it in his cage. The little guy hopped right in, rolled around vigorously a few times, then hopped out. It was adorable!) And I got to be with friends I love with masks on.

Best parts of the whole food/plant based world this week:

-vegan blueberry muffins (so easy!)
-vegan tuna (it's awesome!)
-vegan green curry and chocolate tart for our anniversary (delish!)
-messing up with dairy and losing the snore-free nights a couple of nights this week. A good reminder to keep on track.

Best part of my world every week:

-being married to Alan Wimmer
-We celebrated our 29th anniversary by cleaning the church as a family, then just the two of us driving our Tesla to Wheeling, MO for a graveside service for a dear ward friend of ours, Raymond Kennett, who was recently reunited with his lovely wife Sheryl. We ate lunch and read this awesome talk on the way there. Then we checked out Chillicothe-home of sliced bread (really!), ate outside on the sidewalk at the Blue Bird Bistro in KC, and took a walk and tried to remember the last 30 August 15ths. We are really hazy on some of it.  Here is what we came up with:

Chillicothe has fun murals all over the historic downtown. This one is on the library. Don't you just love love? And books too? Can't beat the combo.

  1. So your post sent me to all sorts of fun places on the internet. The Museum at Prariefire is such a cool building! Definitely someplace I want to visit one day. What fun play dates with friends.

Congratulations on (is it 28 years now??) your anniversary! I have decided that every anniversary deserves congratulations. You have done a wonderful and amazing thing - lots of them - together!

(Also Chillicothe looks so charming and I encourage everyone to do a Google search of the Chillicothe murals!)

  2. What a worthwhile set of activities for your anniversary. Things that connect you with others, and thinks that connected the two of you. Just wonderful. I also like your Museum pictures. I did not know that dairy is the cause of snoring for you. I wonder if having cow things early in the day would be an option? Then skip it for the evening.
