Jiggety Jig

We made it home yesterday from our cancelled family reunion trip. We went anyway and had some pretty fabulous reunions. The flights seemed safe, and airports are so much easier with fewer people there. Griff and Eve did pretty well wearing masks for 4 hours at a stretch. It was a pleasant surprise. Here are the highlights:

LOGAN/WIMMERS:
-Seeing Grandma Wimmer! (I love it that I am now named for her!) We had lovely outdoor visits with masks with her in her yard twice and in Larsen's yard once.
-Dinner with the Larsens! We saw Shanae and Demi at Shanae's bridal shower right after we landed, and the rest of the family for a relaxing fun evening with Cafe Rio on their back porch. They are just such lovely people.
-All the Logan things: pajama outlet, cheese curds, Wimmer's store (where we lucked out and got to see Marc AND Wendy) and Aggie ice cream.
-Alan got to bike ride with Steve in Mantua and Deb brought Moses to the hotel pool so we could see him and visit with her a bit too. Griffin said it was his best thing of the trip.

PG/NIELSONS:
-A fabulous socially distant, bring your own food picnic at Discovery Park with ALL my siblings and my dad and many nieces and nephews and in-laws plus an auntie and uncle.
-A sleepover at M'Li's house with my sisters. Then a tour of her yard, a trip to Alpine, and hiking in the foothills of North Mountain.
-Watching my cousin Scott Conlin's funeral on the train back to SLC. It was such an uplifting celebration of a life well-lived. I especially liked his childrens' memories of him and seeing my lovely Aunt Ruby give the life-sketch he helped write.

SLC:
-A date to Current and walking to Jordan and McKenna's new condo.
-Home church at our condo.
-Hiking Bells Canyon with everyone but Willa.

Two conversations that are sticking with me: asking M'Li about homeschooling and asking Barbara Cramer about living vegan.

  2. You guys had a moment with Moses. That's delightful. Also, the lake wading and Hill tromping looks fun

Looks so fun! I'm so jealous you got to see so many people who I want to see. Griffin and Eve look very themselves in these photos. And your sister reunion makes me want a sister reunion! We're just like you guys -- 4 of us, and one is much shorter than the other three.

  5. I love this so much! I am so glad you came to visit your people even if some of it was from a distance. I am so glad that Larry and Janene got to come. Janene had a glowing report. I love what you did with your sisters and the pictures of you guys together the most.
We would have loved to see you but totally understand the trying to be safe thing. Glad you had a fun and safe trip!
