Family History in Logan

I felt like we were learning and living family history in our short time when Willa, Griffin, Eve and I went to Logan. First, I went through some fun pictures with Mom.

Wimmer history:

I just loved this one!  The fedora!  The cat! The Model T in the background!

This picture of Alan's Dad and his brothers reminded me of Alan and his brothers. And my little kids and their adult siblings. I'm sure there are similar pictures of Dick's kids too. It's a proud tradition we Wimmers have.

Steers history:

I went with Mom W. to Fairview and Preston, Idaho, where her family graves are. We got a fun lesson in Napoleon Dynamite (the D.I. and the high school) and the Steers family (did anyone else know they had a chicken farm when JoAnn was little?). We saw the Dansant dance hall where Wayne and JoAnn met, saw the building that held their diner where they would eat on dates-- 11 cents for a hamburger and 5 cents for a root beer, saw the high school JoAnn graduated from early so she could marry Wayne (the same one Napoleon went to), and the park where she took dance lessons from Valene Tueller's mother (Valene taught Angi dance lessons as she was growing up).

Alan's great, great grandparents. Pioneers in Cache Valley.

Their daughter, Julia, married a Steers, and was the mother of Joseph Steers.

Pretty fun to note the name of Alan's great, great uncle, especially since he spent 7 years working at Wilford Hall on Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.

Living History:

We also visited some cousins.  We had a great morning at Ali's house visiting, seeing her goats, riding her zip line, and showing off some crazy dance moves.

We also got to hang out a little with the Larsens. Griff and Eve loved playing with Demi. And Angi sat and visited with us for an hour, which seems almost miraculous considering how often that woman sits. She is usually a whirlwind of accomplishment.

Ali is the best. She had to help our two lightweights make it all the way to the end of the zipline.

And we stopped by Wimmer's store and saw the new (for a year or two now) proprietor, Marc. He is the oldest grandson and Griff is the youngest. Willa is the third youngest granddaughter and Evie is the youngest. Demi is between them.
