Remembering the Good

The blessings of this week were great.  The challenges matched them, but I want to use my blog to remember the good more than the hard.

1. Memorial Day: We went to the cemetery where Wyatt completed his Eagle Scout project to see the new fence that our troop made way for with their work. We also saw many graves of Prairie Village pioneers.  The earliest graves were from the mid-1800's--people who saw the migrations along the Santa Fe Trail which passes very close by this spot.  Memorial Day also always reminds me of my Dad, who was born on that day in 1937.  It used to always be on May 30, but now it is always the last Monday in May. I called him on May 30. He was getting settled to watch Hayden graduate from high school.  Sounds like a great birthday to me!

2. Today we gathered as three wards in our stake and got new boundaries that include people from the Red Bridge Ward who have newly been added to our stake.  We already know and love so many of them, because we used to be in the Red Bridge Ward. It felt like a celebration to us--a celebration of revelation and unity and the Lord being alive and well and taking careful care over his church.

KC 1st ward bishop. The counselors were nowhere to be found, so I stood with him.

3. Be One broadcast.  Our stake held a reception, which I ended up in charge of since our Director of Public Affairs is in Florida watching her grandchildren.  Mac made me awesome posters, the YW helped me decorate and serve, and so many good friends and people stepped up to make this a really great event.

Artisha and Ariana!  Love them.

Mia and Alison.  Love them too!

All with the help of my helpers, of course.

  1. What a great Eagle project for Wyatt to do. The fence looks great!

You do so so much. And you look fabulous doing it, and that's what really matters most anyway, right? right? Well, it counts, anyway.

  2. That bossy sign saying BE ONE made me giggle just a little too much. I'll pretend I am chuckling at the kids ibn the table cloth fort.

You and Alan look great together.
