This week has felt like a lot of regular nothing at all. I haven't been up for accomplishing much, just recovering from the very intense week before. I do miss my mommy, and tears are still coming easily when I think of her and the many miracles I witnessed surrounding her passing. Most miraculous is that she was my mom--and always will be.
Here is some of our nothing:
 |
| I napped every day. And was still tired every night--enough to wake up disoriented every time. |
Alan turned 50! I am so glad we are each other's. People asked him if we went out, and he just told them he wanted to stay in. The little ones are the ones who get most excited about birthdays. Griff had especially lots of fun shopping for presents for his dad and got him an airplane shooter gun. We are impressed he still refers to it as his dad's.
 |
| A 5-0 picture. Note reading glasses. |
Spring is coming! And it thrills my heart that with it comes Easter in just a week. I opened our pond one pretty afternoon.
Final preschool class photo. Mrs. Townsend, with her hand on Evie's shoulder, pulled me aside to tell me how sweet Eve is this week.
 |
| Griff captured my friend Denise just before she hugged me. |
 |
| Griff "meditating" whist spinning on the merry-go-round. |
 |
| Church. Lots of love in our ward. |
 |
| Eve modeling her Easter dress and my church earrings from Sheryl Kennett. |
"Death is nothing at all.
I have only slipped away to the next room.
I am I and you are you.
Whatever we were to each other,
That, we still are.
Call me by my old familiar name.
Speak to me in the easy way which you always used.
Put no difference into your tone.
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.
Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me. Pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household word that it always was.
Let it be spoken without effect.
Without the trace of a shadow on it.
Life means all that it ever meant.
It is the same that it ever was.
There is absolute unbroken continuity.
Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?
I am but waiting for you.
For an interval.
Somewhere. Very near.
Just around the corner.
All is well."

What a wonderful poem. What a sweet lot of "nothing" goes into your happy life. I'm glad you're getting rested up. Lots of love and long-distance hugs! Because that's what Mom would want me to say.
ReplyDeleteEve's Easter dress is so sweet. I always thought that Easter dresses should have smocking for little girls. Real life tends to keep going. How does this happen? I have had sweet moments that help.
ReplyDeleteI was exhausted this week too! So hard to keep my eyes open!
Nothing at all is still so full. Happy belated birthday to Allen! He is a wonderful guy!
ReplyDeleteThe poem is beautiful!
