As It Were a Dream

Alan had a conference in San Francisco this week and invited me to join him for the end.  I, being no dummy, of course said yes!  Here were my favorite parts:

-talking to my Mom and Dad in the airport before I left
-a fun and friendly Burmese taxi driver from the airport to the hotel
-the hotel!  It was luxurious and great.  So many fun details.
-talking to Eliza poolside

-an early morning walk through the financial district and up Telegraph Hill via these pretty stairs to see Coit Tower and a view of the whole city.

-walking back through a small rain and through Chinatown
-lunch with Alan
-a nap and a movie (Benny and Joon)
-dinner at Hog Island Oyster Bar on the waterfront.  SO GOOD!  My chowder was a bowl full of clams in their shells covered with tender veggies and a dreamy cream sauce.
-Hot tubbing to end the night.

Boots and a robe with updo on the way to the pool.  European or just goofy?

- a nice morning swim in the same pool.
-a fancy schmancy breakfast buffet that morning at the hotel.  It was seriously the best breakfast buffet I have ever seen.

I got blue nails and a blue "I heart SF" stamp out of the deal too.

What a lovely little break from reality!

  1. I love it that two of your things (talking on the phone with loved ones) were things you could do anywhere, but that it added to the fun of your trip :) There's nothing like time away to freshen things up. And San Fran is such a fun place! One definitely must have chowder on San Francisco. I approve.

  2. The post haircut photos made my day! So glad you and Alan did something together -- or many things together. Deep breath in through the nose and out through the mouth just before you brace for the impact of getting back to work, right? That's one spicy photo of you in your robe and boots. It didn't look too European, but definitely like you meant it. I LOVE this report -- how bleached is Willa going?

  3. What a wonderful holiday! You and Alan are so wise to regularly connect with eachother by getting away from it all!
