An update on my kids before we leave February:
This is McCall and Mariah--who definitely aren't even dating. They are best friends only. They went to Moab together on President's Day and took this awesome picture in front of an arch. Mariah loves her art class even though it is pretty inconvenient to get to--in Salt Lake. And she found V8 Low Sodium at the Helaman Creamery, which is awesome because it is the only source of vegetables she actually likes.

This is Eliza and Evan and the puppy he rented for her for Valentine's Day afternoon. I thought that was such a cute idea. She told me it was the happiest day of her life so far. Evan is coming for a visit to KC at the end of the term, so we'll get to meet him before he leaves for his mission to Lima, Peru. We got to see all four of these people on ESPN when BYU played Gonzaga (and won!). They camped out for seats and got the third row and a cameraman's attention!

| A mini dachshaund mix. If only we could just mail her Mo.... |
My beautiful girls in front of the Provo temple on the Sunday before their friend/roommate Allison left BYU to go on her mission. I think they are practically perfect for college freshmen.
Willa is back! She is still having headaches, but this last weekend (after a 5 day course of steroids) I heard her laughing and realized how very long it had been since I had heard her laugh--seven weeks to be exact. She is seeming more like Willa every day--even though her head still hurts regularly. She is able to go to school and do most of her activities. And she is even planning a birthday party for her friend Kirby. We are so thankful for prayers, supplements, and medications that are finally helping her function (and serendipitously clearing her skin)! She is just what a teenage girl about to get her driver's permit should be.

And Wyatt never left, of course. Even though Willa tells him he needs to get his act together, I often shake my head and remind myself that he is totally put together for a deacon. That helps me a lot. He is just everything a twelve year old boy should be. His last basketball game of the season is Saturday and the mathletics season ended too, although I think the coach decided it would be unfair to have him compete at regionals since he won the highest level last year. One of the moms told me having Wyatt on your mathletics team is like having nuclear warheads--it isn't fair to everyone else.
Griff is even more and better these days--exactly what a toddler boy should be. He is a passionate kid who calls everything he likes "Ba" except for me (Mom) and Alan (Da). For things he doesn't like, you get a slow explanatory string of "No no no no no!" complete with squinting and head shaking. It drives him nuts to sit still for very long unless you are reading stories to him. He has an amazing attention span for books, and his favorites are about things that go. Go Dog Go is a definite favorite. He is biting Eve and me a little bit less and chattering a little bit more. He and Eve are almost exactly the same size right now, which means Griff is 71st percentile for height, 41st percentile for weight and 86th percentile for head circumference.

Eve can't quite decide if she wants to be a baby (she loves blankies, snuggling and sippy cups) or an adult (she absolutely refuses baby food and likes to take care of Griff as if he were her baby), which is just about right for a toddler girl. She chatters all day long--especially when she is talking on a "phone", which often sounds like some other unknown language, but sometimes sounds like amazingly clear English. I love it when her words sound exactly like "peek-a-boo", "hello", "squeeze" as she grasps my knees, and "thank you". For a 15 month old girl, 22 pounds and 32 inches is 91st percentile for height and 67th for weight.

And even though they climb the towel rack, empty cabinets to sit in them and unload every container, fireplace, shelf and drawer they can get to, they are doing exactly what they should be doing. They are just as they should be for this time in their lives.

Oh! You blogged!!!!! Yeah!!! And it was a "Kid Report". More celebration! We read every word, which were excellently descriptive and beautifully said. We are especially delighted with Willa being Willa again. The toddlers are endlessly entertaining. Wyatt amazing. The girlies surely date TALL skinny drinks of water and are GORGEOUS!
ReplyDeleteThat last photo just warmed the cockles of my heart.
ReplyDeleteYou are just the mother that you should be, that's why everything else is just right.
Hugs -

Oh, yes, I would never have mistaken McCall and Mariah for a couple that might be dating because they totally look just like - you know - friends standing in front of Delicate Arch.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe that Evan RENTED a puppy for Eliza for Valentine's Day. How stinkin' cute is that? And it's just about the sweetest thing ever too.
So glad to hear news of laughter from Willa! I'm hoping that things just get better and better still. We're still waiting for the vitamins to work at our house...we might need stronger drugs than Willa does.
Wyatt is such a star. I love to hear about his mathletics prowess. I want to see him in action.
The picture of Griff totally cracked me up. There is no doubt who his father is! I know that you have put bars up at your house to have something for your husband to use up energy on. So much fun!
Eve is the cutest thing ever. I love her new little pony tails. Have I told you what adorable little Wimmers you and Al make? Plus their just so darn smart! I think it makes life harder for mom to have such little smarty pants around. But man, they do and say the cutest things!
Oh, this was wonderful! I love all the pictures and want to ditto what everyone else has said. Love. Love. Love!
ReplyDeleteNuclear warheads? Awesome. Tell Wyatt I approve.
ReplyDeleteRearranging cupboards / talking / climbing. Only your twins will remember what they were saying to each other. They'll also remember telling each other it's too bad you didn't understand them.
Miss Willa smiling! yay!
As for the BYU chicks. Nobody should stand downhill from someone that tall. Plus, I'm about ready to adopt that guy who would rent a puppy.
You're a most excellent mother.
