I had two surprising food successes this week. This grilled chicken:

from www.perrysplate.com disappeared before I could get seconds. We had it when the missionaries came for dinner and Elder Cortez said it was the best chicken he has had on his mission ever. He's only been out since June I think, since he just graduated from high school, but I thought it was still a pretty good recommendation.
Also, I made some fabulous lettuce wraps for lunch with just stuff I had in my fridge. Here is what I did. I put these things in a big cereal bowl:
1 spoonful Hoison sauce
1 spoonful peanut butter
(stir those two together)
some leftover rice (cold)
matchstick carrots, celery, cucumber
some green onion
some raw cashews
a little cut up chicken (sadly, not the recipe above).
I stirred all that together and wrapped it in Romaine leaves. It was easy and delish! And I especially loved it that it was pretty much with just leftovers of chicken and rice.

You should definitely do lots of food posts so I can learn more stuff. What is Hoison sauce? I don't think I have any in my fridge...yet. Now I need to get some!
ReplyDeleteAnd a great way to cook the chicken? Yes! I need to try it.
Hoison sauce is in the Asian section. It has soy sauce and plum sauce and some other stuff in it. It's good for making things taste Asian-y.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, recipes! And a new food blog to look at! You are wonderful and this food sound wonderful too. Thank you SO much for sharing.
