Big Ideas

This picture doesn't really go with this post.  But we had an amazing sky last night and have had beautiful weather all week, so maybe it will inspire my family members who are wilting in the desert sun to come visit me in the heartland...maybe that is my big idea.

This post is really about Willa.  Willa needed about a month to vegetate and watch a couple of TV series after school got out before big ideas started bubbling to the surface again. Here are the ones that have tickled me recently:

1. Here is a note she gave me a couple of weeks ago to try to nudge me into letting her have Mariah's room in the fall instead of giving it to the babies.  You'll especially appreciate it if you know the music from Wicked:

2. She wants to be a polyglot. Benny the Polyglot (you can Google him) is her inspiration, but she has her own list of languages she wants to learn, and she has told us her list repeatedly: English, French, Spanish, Russian, Arabic, Farsi, Mandarin and Portuguese. She is taking a break from French right now and made me walk to the library with her where she checked out a couple of courses in Arabic. She likes to lay out and get a tan while she learns how to ask people if they speak English in Arabic. I think that is probably the best thing for an English speaker to learn first!

3. With her language plan, she has found that BYU offers many of these language courses that aren't available at our high school (and a whole high school curriculum) online. She has decided that maybe she should do high school online and use all of the rest of the time to travel the world. At first she thought our whole family should join her. Then Alan reminded her he had a job. And I have babies. So she might settle for doing multiple semesters abroad. She still hasn't figured out a way to convince her parents they aren't really needed except for funding her adventures.

So the whole idea about you visiting Kansas?  Not big at all.  It's tiny.  You should just go ahead and do it. ;)
