Final Exam: Hong Kong

Yesterday I put my two oldest daughters on a plane to go halfway around the world.  No, who am I kidding?  I really just dumped them and their best friend off at the airport curb with PLANS for them to go halfway around the world.  As I drove away, I wondered if I was feeling a little bit like our heavenly parents must have felt when they sent us to Earth: disbelief that I was really going to let them do this thing that has real potential dangers, excitement for them for the adventure they were going to have, and a nervous pleading that they make it home safely.  And a few tears because my firstborn babies have undeniably grown up!  The only things I told them were to be safe and have fun.  And that I loved them.  But really, this felt like a final exam--one for me and one for my children!  There were lots of things I should have told them, but at that point if they didn't know them it was too late anyway.  It was much too late to cram.  When I got home from the airport, here are the last few messages between us before they got on the plane




This morning we got an email from our friends who picked them up at the airport, saying they were safely there.  They made it to Hong Kong.  Please pray for them to be safe and have fun!

    Oh my! What a leap of faith! Wasn't it a huge relief that they arrived safely into the arms of the right people? Me too!!

    I'm so emotional lately...I'm crying just reading this. They will have so. much. fun. And aren't you glad there are 3 of them? Not even just 2, but three?

    Mom, lol is: laughing out loud, so lololol must be: laughing out loud, out loud, out loud.

    Will's favorite thing to say is "LOL, smiley face." Can you name the movie?

    Heather, I can't believe they are really THAT far away. I was still in "BYU going to be far away" mode. And then reminded me of all of you being in Henderson this month...and us being HERE! What are the odds of that! I hope you find the need to see/spend time with Kirsta and fam often :) and that we are there at the same time!
    Of course the girls will be in my prayers...we can't have too many in their behalf. -xo momw
