The makeover queens started their senior year. Madison arrived before 7am (which was later than she said she'd come, but it's still REALLY early for her) to have her hair done for the first day. They all looked great and came home happy. I think they (just M and E) have all but two or three classes together this year. They are also allowed to leave campus for lunch as seniors, which for me has meant seeing them and cleaning up taquitos and ramen. We've gotta work on that last part...
The one who got the best makeover this year was Willa. She worked really hard to save money and pass of her six hymns (which doubled her savings this summer), and Mariah and Eliza were delighted to take her shopping and spend vicariously through her. They bought her all sorts of really cool clothes and makeup, and now she feels spectacularly awesome, which is just how you want your 7th grader to feel on the first day.
We really had to show you her first TWO days, because we think she hit the perfect balance of looking great without trying too hard, and because she just looks so fabulous. In addition to looking great, Willa has come home happy from middle school. She has friends in all her classes and has given me fun descriptions of her teachers (which I know from past experience are spot on). It is just too bad her body isn't yet used to the exhausting transition from summer to school. By the time Alan sees her at the end of the day, she has been a puddle of misery for the past three days.
And Wyatt. Fifth grade. When we were in line to get his letter telling us who his teacher would be, we were both a jumble of nerves. There was one teacher who really would not have been acceptable. And lots of his friends got her. Luckily, we got our first pick! Mr. Meserko already knows and loves my kids (Willa from when she had him, and Wyatt from math last year), and we were both happy and relieved he got the best teacher in the grade this year. We have wondered how the class placements happen anyway. Wyatt is convinced that it is much like the NBA draft. The teachers all get together for their first and second round picks, and then there is probably some wheeling and dealing as trades are made so everyone has a fairly balanced team. Mr. Meserko must have picked him early because he knows how awesome Wyatt is. Wyatt has also come home happy. It's going to be a great year.

You're already there! The beginning of school. They all look fabulous. I could use some help with the school shopping this year for Faith. I wish your seniors could come help us get ready for middle school!

ReplyDeleteThe twins and their friend have such matching hair, it's not even funny. Seniors. That's a great year. Willa has her looks under control way too early for me to be happy about it. Aren't we all supposed to look awful in 7th grade? I'm also glad Wyatt got the pick of the teachers, since he's the pick of the students. Awesome photos. Particularly of Wyatt.
ReplyDeletePaige, Willa asked why you were disappointed she has her look down this young. When I told her that everyone is supposed to be a little ugly and awkward in 7th grade, she reminded me, "Not at Indian Hills!". Which is true. We live in kind of a fancy area.
ReplyDeleteI especially liked Willa's day 2 as well. In fact, day two is usually better than day one for us. I only take pictures on day 2 of school...but really it's because I always forget to on day 1.
