When phone calls just aren't working...

Dear Kirsta,

I miss you! You always are telling me how busy I am, but you are never home when I try to call you either. So it goes both ways, sista! How is your summer going? Ours is definitely here. We have been cut loose from our school-year moorings and never know quite what is going to happen in which order each day. Alan is still doing his regular routine, but the rest of us are kind of floating. Mariah and Eliza are working on reversing their eating and sleep schedules. They are never hungry or sleepy when anyone else is. If I just let them keep doing it do you think they'll figure out on their own what a bad idea it is?

. I went to youth conference and hosted kids at our house during those days. I've driven Wyatt to cub scout day camp (which he is loving). I'm getting ready for girls' camp. I'm reading The Battle of the Labyrinth and Diary of a Wimpy Kid Dog Days, which pleases my younger kids to no end. We've gone swimming and shopping. We are replacing a furnace and A/C today and getting oh-so-close to starting the finishing of our basement. I got my van cleaned and am enjoying the clean and trying to ignore the noise. (If I just pretend it is fine it won't break, right?) Here are a couple of things from youth conference for you to look at.

So how is your summer going? What have you been doing? How is your calling going? How is Bill? What cute things are your kids doing?

I wish we were neighbors. You should think about moving to KC instead of LV. I have a friend who came here to start a business when you moved to AZ and they think it is a great place for businesses. Think about it, okay?

I love you, love you, love you. Call me some time.

Love,
Heather

Dear Paige,

I miss you. I love the things you've been posting on your blog. I think you're delightful and hilarious. Can we be neighbors? I think it would be so much fun to be in your ward.

I am going to try to read your book after girls camp. Or maybe after the Wimmer reunion. By July for sure. Am I a slacker editor or what? Am I too slow to be useful? Probably so.

I want to know what is going on in your summer too. And what is up with your kids and your dogs and your husband and your new calling. Do you feel like you've settled into it yet?

I love you to pieces. I'm so glad I got to grow up as your twin. When is your HS reunion? And where? We really should talk, shouldn't we?

Love,
Heather

Dear Mom,

I'm sorry I haven't called you this week. I haven't called anyone yet. And I don't want to turn into M'Li! (At least not in that way...I think you're great, M'Li...)

I'm having fun with your grandchildren. Willa is at a particularly fun age this summer. She was great company for me yesterday as we ran errands together all day long. We danced in the aisles of Best Buy together as we tried to pick which speakers to buy for my ipod. The people who worked there thought it was hilarious. We had a fantastic lunch of Costco samples, grapes and cheese in the van as we were going. And we had a fun time at Wyatt's cub scout day camp family day where we all got to shoot bb guns at targets. I made three bullseyes. Surprise!

I hope you and Dad are doing well. I miss you. I love you! When are you going to come see me again?

Love,
Heather

  2. I sent an e-mail in response, but forgot to include the HS reunion. It's the first week of school for the kids. I won't be going. Drat.
