My whole week has been thrown off. You know how you get into a routine (or a rut, maybe) that gets most of the important stuff done, and you're kind of lost if you have a day or two of ignoring the routine? I did that for three days this week. It's been great. And I'm sure the house will recover.
Last week my friend Marci called me and asked if I wanted an excuse to goof off on Monday. Well, of course! (I haven't lived near her for 11 or 12 years--since Texas--but she remembered me well!) It turned out she was going to have a train layover in Kansas City pretty much during school hours. It could not have been more ideal. We met at Union Station, took a tour of my house, ate lunch at Bloomsbury Bistro in the antique mall right by me, checked out a unique upscale boutique, bought kitchen gadgets at Pryde's, drove around a little, and visited up a storm. It was wonderful. The best thing was remembering how much I really like Marci. She is beautiful and smart but not full of herself, has a great sense of style and humor, and is just really fun to hang out with. No wonder I'm still friends with her!
Wednesday Alan took off and we drove with my friend Cindy in the back of our Civic to the St. Louis temple. (We didn't kidnap her, she actually asked for the ride.) We left as the kids went to school, did a session right after lunch (which takes some real discipline for a girl who loves afternoon naps), participated in some sealings (without passing out this time), stopped by an Acura dealership to find the Costco price on a car we're considering, and topped it all off with some fabulous Mexican food at Chevy's. Meanwhile, the kids were fine at school and home and my girls were magically registered for EFY in Provo this summer with their cousins by their superhero uncle. All in all, a very good day.
Today I'm helping with the 4th grade pow wow. It has gone well so far--only one minor apple-peeler injury. And best of all, it earned me a hug from Willa Jane right in front of all her friends.

such a fun week. i love that you're still friends with people you knew long ago. i hope i'm still friends with my long agos like that in a few years. thank you, as always, for giving me something to aspire to. you're fabulous and i love you.
ReplyDeleteour week has been totally off too. so glad i cleaned my house and did laundry on mon and tues. :) my house will recover but lets see if my babies do. hehe. i think mom ran them ragged a bit.
I know what you mean. I really like having a house that runs right. I also approve of how you run your house. You have excellent leftovers, but maybe I harp on that point too much. I've written it a couple of times before. If I could ask for anyone in the world to keep me supplied with tasty leftovers, it would definitely be you.
ReplyDeleteI like your leftovers too. What a fun week. My week seems to get thrown off all the time, but without having great reasons to do it like you did. This week it's from painting cardboard boxes green (and letting the kids help me do it...I must have rocks in my head.)
