There is a blog I had seen a time or two that I finally GOT. And it made me a bit sheepish. It is a spoof of Mormon mommy blogs. It is called Seriously, So blessed. (You can check it out AFTER you have read what I've got to say.) Since I'm Mormon and a mommy, it seems like the shoe fits, doesn't it? And actually, the title is what drew me in. I feel that sometimes. The first time I read it, before I realized it was satire, I HATED it. I was repulsed by the tone and the spelling and grammar errors and didn't stay long enough to realize the conglomerate author (who is actually just one girl) was making fun of blogs that really do have that tone and that style. The crazy-in-love-with-her-husband-and-oh-so-excited-to-be-preggers-and-I'm-too-cool-to-write-properly thing just didn't work for me until I read it and saw that it's funny because it's true. And I also saw a bit of what I do too. It made me stop posting for at least a week.
The facts that a)it took me so long to get it, and b)it made me stop posting for a while and c)I'm posting it about it now, probably mean that I'm very nearly humorless. Oh well. I'm pretty sure my kids think so too.

Heather, Heather, Heather … you just managed to add a touch of humor and perspective and spirituality into my crazy millions-of-dance-fest-things-to-do day … thank you for being such an adorable you! J
ReplyDeleteI read this blog a while back too and I didn't think it was at all funny and I still don't, so I think that means I'm more humorless than you. Hope that makes you feel better!
ReplyDeleteP.S. Your blog is so much NOT like Seriously, so blessed. Really.
Keep posting. I was wondering whether you just loved Wyatt's photo so much and wanted to leave it visible. But there was so much more going on -- seriously, if people don't tel us these things we won't ever know and how awful is that?
ReplyDeleteI looked at that blog and found it humorless as well. So I am humorless with you as well. I could really vent on it but won't, I'll just say I love your blog and that you share it with me!
ReplyDeleteHeather, I finally had time to check out this girls blog....and even though I am sure it is "tongue in cheek" it is still over the top...in my humble opinion!!! I would never take the time to follow her but then I'm past yours and hers age. It is probably that ....my not thinking she is funny. I really do like when we laugh at ourselves in the church...but she was trying a bit to hard. Enough of my unnecessary critique of what she wants to do. I would MUCH RATHER read yours. Of course you info interests me and I admire you style of laughing at what is going on in your life. Someone once said there are times if we don't laugh, we would have to cry!
ReplyDeleteI found the article on depression interesting...as I become more aware of people close to me that have to struggle with it...I want to know all I can so I can be more understanding with what those with it are going through. I feel that when I do understand, it is possible for me to be more sympathetic with what a challenge it is. love you a bunch...xo momw
i think her blog is hilarious...and doesn't hold a candle to yours. seriously...
