Wyatt was pretty successful in his first Pinewood Derby last night. His school bus, #2010 with a personalized Kansas license plate that says his name, came in behind only two other cars, and evidently they had to do a run-off between Wyatt and the kid who took second because their cars were so close. We only heard about it after the fact because although the whole family was at the church, we were all busy doing other stuff. The dad who helped him build the bus was meeting with the prospective Eagle scouts. The mom who made the stickers for it was interviewing young women for Personal Progress, and all of the sisters were busy at activities for young women and activity days.
The great thing was that we all left the house at the same time (on time!), we all had fun, and left the church all together by 8:35pm. So it was ALMOST like we were all there, wasn't it?! And we did get this cute picture after we watched the end of American Idol, read scriptures and then scooted him up the stairs for bed.
Go Wyatt! That is so cool. I really like the yellow school bus approach.
ReplyDeleteI'm just mournful you didn't get the whole experience as a family. Pinewood Derby is a thrice in a lifetime event. Make sure you watch one before he's out of Cubs. And give him a big sloppy smooch at tell him he chose the best color in the world. Yay, Wyatt!
