New York, New York!

I couldn't even choose a favorite part of what I did this weekend. Highlights were:

-Manhattan temple initiatories (It is just lovely to go to the temple in the city)
-Beauty and the Beast starring Donny Osmond (amazing costumes and staging, so much fun)
-Shopping from street vendors with KJ (she's tough!)
-Circle Line cruise tour around Manhattan (Statue of Liberty at sunset was stunning)
-Visiting, eating great burgers (from a greasy college kind of joint hidden within the 5 star hotel Medtronic paid for) with KJ and Bill (Even better: we didn't even say goodbye--we said "See you next week!")
-Walking to church through Central Park (on a sunny, crisp beautiful morning)
-A great sacrament meeting (testimonies from a Russian saint, public affairs missionaries saying farewell, a departing RS Pres, and a glowing Latina seminary teacher) with organ accompaniment provided by a childhood acquaintaince. (Alena Hatch)
-Being away with my true love for the weekend. (It's amazing how much we still like to be together.)

All this great stuff was punctuated by a freakish episode of intense headache and fainting on the plane home, which definitely left me feeling shaky. We returned to happy, tired children who had WAY more fun at Byron and Michelle's house than they would have had with us at home or away. (Thank you again! We look forward to returning the favor.)

  1. Did you talk to Alena Hatch? What is she doing in New York? Wish I could have gone to church with you, though I really enjoyed our ward as well.

Thank you so much for letting me join the partay in NYC! I realized that we did all my shopping in the morning and we should have done what you wanted to do. I had a blast. It was the best day of my life in I don't know how long.

Mom told me about your headache/fainting episode on the airplane. That is so crazy. She said that Alan lowered your head and took your pulse. Isn't it great to sit next to a doctor?

    Can't wait to play again!

Wow. What a great trip! You gals sure know how to party. I guess KJ couldn't make it for the temple or she would have mentioned that in her own blog.

Any ideas what caused your health glich? I hope just fatigue. One would hate to have . . .POLIO . . . right when you're going on a cruise with the WDF.

    Love ya! Paige

I just read about your fab weekend! Funny thing is that I knew Alena Hatch was an organist there--Kimberly, our family expert on the city, found out on one of her excursions.

Mom and the Komm girls spent a week in NYC in April. We saw five shows including Harry "Hotty" Connick, Jr. in Pajama Game and Wicked, but I am so jealous you got to see Donny. We also met up with another Komm, the youngest cousin, who is a graduate of Parson's and on e-mail/txt msg basis with "Make it work, people" Tim Gunner of Project Runway fame.

Anyway, NYC is incredible and I can't wait to go again. . .
