Knowledge is Power

Last month for YM/YW we made commercials for standards in For The Strength of Youth. I wanted them to feel successful and make good commercials, so I called my brother for a quick marketing lesson and he gave me a great framework for the kids to use when making their commercials. I think the result is pretty good if I do say so myself. (Thanks, Joel!) The next big thing was figuring out how to get it from my reticent video camera onto my computer and from thence to my blog. After several trips to the computer store, lots of plucking up my courage, opening up my computer (I'll pause here so you can gasp appreciatively...), installing a new firewire card myself, transferring the video, figuring out how to use the blogger video function (okay, so that wasn't so very hard), and writing the post, I'm feeling pretty empowered by my new knowledge. Nope.

As odds, not my heart, would have predicted, it didn't work. I am grieving today, not thinking of what comes next.

It's a Love Story (Baby just say, "Yes!")

Mom asked me to write our love story for her blog...and I may just beat her to the punch in posting it. Here are the words we were thinking as the whole thing happened. From our journals: March 24, 1991 I broke my dating fast last night, going to “In the Burning Darkness” with Miss Heather Nielson, a friend from Butler’s chemistry class last year. I hadn’t seen her since then until our paths crossed in the ESC (Eyring Science Center) and she said as I walked by, “I miss you so much!
